Task Requirements

Students are given a task to create an audio image using any of the combination below. The audio should create an image for the firstperson point of view to be able to visualize on what is going on based on just the audio tracks. It should be able to tell a story for the chosen scenario. Students are not allowed to use any voice or dialogs. Choose the theme and start drafting the storyline for your auditory imaging project and gather the necessary sound.

The choice scenario are:

  • Wildlife + Background
  • Everyday Home Life + Background
  • Cities + Transport + Exterior Atmosphere
  • Industry and Electronic sounds + Background
  • Weather + Background
  • Market + Rural atmosphere + Background

My Chosen Theme: Everyday Home Life + Background

Feedbacks

Feedback 1

There wasn't much feedback at that time due to the mixdown being short and less definitive. Just have to mindful of using only online sourced sounds and no self recordings.

Mixdown iteration 1:

Feedback 2

The overall audio was fine, the pace wasn't going too fast, some refinements are needed for the alarm sound in the beginning. The phone alarm sounded so high fidelity which sounded like a theme song for advertisement where every sounds is exaggerated to make it more cinematic.

Mixdown iteration 2:

Reflection

In this task, I learnt how to make a mixdown with only using the sounds available online. Every sound track has their own frequency and volume, so I had to put in effort to balance and adjust them to achieve the desired overall sound. Even though not every sound can be immediately recognized, combining them in a way that matches what the public is familiar with, along with a clear audio script, helps the piece make more sense to listeners.
